Laboratory of Gastroenterology

The main directions of scientific research:

  • Development, testing and implementation of screening methods for the diagnosis of precancerous conditions of the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver and intestines based on molecular genetic, enzyme immunoassay and biochemical research methods.
  • In integration projects with fundamental institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the study of diagnostic and differential diagnostic capabilities of modern physical methods (dielectrophoresis, Spectral ellipsometry, Raman spectroscopy, NMR, etc., including in combination with biochemical methods for the study of erythrocyte membranes and blood serum).
  • Development of proposals for practical healthcare on the organization of a system of prevention, formation of risk groups and timely detection of precancerous conditions (changes) and early cancers of the digestive organs. In particular, an algorithm has been developed for the risk assessment of gastric cancer with a comprehensive assessment of non-invasive biomarkers of atrophy and polymorphism of pro-inflammatory genes.   • The laboratory consists of 4-5 researchers, having Higher doctorate degree in Medicine (including 2 professors), 2-3 doctorate degree in Medicine and several full-time graduate students, including those who combined the positions of Junior Fellows.
  • Scientific research is carried out in the field of fundamental and clinical gastroenterology, aimed at studying the regional features of epidemiology and pathogenesis, including molecular biological aspects, of the main diseases of the digestive system. Innovative methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the digestive system are being developed.
