International collaborations
Participation in large international consortia and international scientific networks:
1. International project “Determinants of the health gradient during aging and markers of biological age in the modern Russian population of retirement and preretirement age,” 2014–2016.
An overseas partner: University College London, United Kingdom; collaboration agreement (project WT 100217/Z/12/A), agreement number: EPNCZA5210, years 2014–2019. An overseas partner: London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; a Russian partner: Novosibirsk State Medical University.
Research topic/aim: A Novosibirsk study entitled “Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in Russia: expansion of the knowledge base on the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment.”
2. “Determinants of CVDs in Eastern Europe, a multicenter cohort study” (Health, Alcohol and Psychosocial Factors in Eastern Europe [HAPIEE]) as part of the CHANCES consortium “A Study on Health and Aging in Europe and the USA,” project term: 2010–2015.
Overseas and/or Russian partner(s):University College London; National Institute of Public Health, Prague; Jagiellonian University Krakow, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas; and participants of the CHANCES consortium. Country: United Kingdom.
Research topic/aim: A long-term cohort study on the determinants of CVDs and mortality in Central and Eastern Europe. Research on the role of biological, socioeconomic, and psychosocial factors; age-related dynamics of health; and genetic and unconventional biomarkers during the development of CVDs and chronic diseases. Investigation of health indicators and determinants in the course of aging within the framework of integration of large cohort studies in the USA and Europe.
3. CVDs in Russia: expansion of the knowledge base on the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment. Project term: 2014–2019.
Overseas and/or Russian partner(s): London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine. Country: Russian Federation; United Kingdom.
Research topic/aim: Analysis of mortality trends caused by CVDs and risk factors (integration of existing data); characterization of cardiovascular pathology according to epidemiological and instrument-based studies in the Russian population as well as a study on CVD mechanisms. A comparison with data from other populations and with the implementation status of science-based preventive and therapeutic measures against CVDs.
4. “A study on long-term age-related trajectories of health indicators, investigation of the dynamics of ‘biological age’ markers during aging, and analysis of the links among chronological age, biomarkers (of age), and indicators of the functional state and health during the retirement and preretirement period in the Russian population” within the framework of Russian Science Foundation grant # 14-45-00030-П “Determinants of the health gradient during aging and markers of biological age in the modern Russian population of retirement and preretirement age.” Project term: 2017–2018.
Overseas and/or Russian partner(s): Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, University College London, 1-19 Torrington Place UK, United Kingdom, London WC1E 6BT. Country: United Kingdom.
Research topic/aim: A third serial population screening for all modules has been conducted (sample size: 3500).
